FairCharge at Fully Charged Live

I’m really pleased to say that FairCharge will be exhibiting at Fully Charged Live 2022 at Farnborough Airport this weekend. As the world’s biggest clean energy and electric vehicle show it’s a must for anybody interested in electric cars, electrification, batteries, chargers, decarbonisation – in fact anything to do with the transition from fossil fuels to renewable, sustainable energy. And energy security is enormously topical with yesterday’s news of Russia cutting of gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria.

FairCharge is campaigning hard to increase EV awareness, lobby the government for more charging infrastructure and to keep charging costs as low as possible. We’re asking the Treasury to reduce the VAT on public charging from 20% to 5% - the same rate as charging from home – as this is an unfair historic piece of VAT legislation created when electric cars were just a twinkle in Elon Musk’s eye. We believe the 20% VAT levy on public charging is wrongly applied, divisive and will disincentivise consumers from making the switch to EVs.

We’ve been very pleased with the enthusiasm for what we’re doing from Parliamentarians who are backing us - only this week were delighted to hold a productive meeting with Louise Haigh, the Shadow Secretary of State for Transport. By creating strong cross-party support for FairCharge’s aims, aspirations and ambitions we really can make a difference to government policy and improve air quality and reduce pollution and climate change.

I’ll be on our stand – number K1 – to answer any and all questions about EVs, electrification, batteries, hydrogen or whatever you want to ask me - so come and say hello. We’re also running a competition across the three days to win dinner with me so look out for that too! We need your support to lobby effectively for this very important change in the UK’s energy strategy so come and sign up to the campaign and follow us on Twitter. We’ll also show you how you can quickly and simply write to your MP.

Looking forward to meeting you,
